Members of IBEW Local 42 are eligible to be reimbursed for work boots once per calendar year, and can also receive an allowance toward prescription safety glasses (if applicable) once per calendar year. Members can also request reimbursement for certain training classes.

Please read the following information carefully before making any purchases or asking for reimbursement.

Boot Reimbursement

To be reimbursed for a purchase of work boots, you must be a member of IBEW Local 42 (or a non-member working at least 12 consecutive months in our jurisdiction, if given approval by our Safety Directors) and the boots MUST meet the following safety standards:

• Safety Toe (composite, steel toe, etc.)
• Electrical Hazard Certified (often called EH Rated)

This information can often be found on the box that the boots come in, the tag, or the tongue inside the boots. Sometimes this can also be found online by searching the name of the boots. You MUST be able to provide proof of these safety features with a picture or screenshot for us to reimburse you.

We will reimburse you for the amount you paid for the work boots, up to $200.00.

Prescription Safety Glasses

Please note that our prescription safety glasses program is specific to three locations of "The Eyeglass Place." If you buy prescription safety glasses elsewhere and wish to be reimbursed, this would have to go through your insurance company.

Training Class Reimbursement

Members of Local 42 can ask for reimbursement for the following training:

• Massachusetts Hoisting License
• Massachusetts Hoisting Continuing Education
• OSHA Online Training
